Today's episode can best be described as a state of the union. I know this podcast is usually related to beauty industry topics, but I wanted to bring on some of my favorite past guests to discuss current events that I consider to be some of the most important issues facing everyone living in America at this time.

Some of my favorite types of guests on this podcast are what I like to call, "Girlbosses." Women who make their own rules and forge their own way in business without ever slowing down. On this episode I was able to interview Divya Gugnani, co-founder of Wander Beauty, a line of multitasking beauty essentials that are designed with busy women in mind. Divya is such an inspiring person and she drops so much beauty and business knowledge over the course of our conversation. I can't wait for you to hear this!

My guest on this episode of Ready Set Slay is none other than streetwear fashion designer and founder of Ugly Duklyn clothing, Francis London. I've known Francis for a LONG time and have had some amazing conversations with him and we've watched one another evolve over the years - something we discuss on this very podcast. We also reminisce about 90s fashion, weaves, wigs and hair extensions, and sooo much more.

My guest on this episode of the podcast has what I like to call a 'contagious spirit.' James Jordan has been in the beauty industry for 16 years as a hair and makeup artist and he brings with him a candid and real perspective to the show. We discuss many topics including the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant, real life vs social media, privacy in modern relationships, the Grammys and Grammy looks, and sooo much more.

Most recently, you've probably been keeping up with Nancy Volpe-Beringer on Project Runway. I had the opportunity to speak with Nancy and learn about her journey, her creative process, and really get inside the mind of a true fashion artist.

For the final episode of Ready Set Slay of 2019, I wanted to bring back one of my very good friends who you may remember from episode 16: Lyfe! We discuss social media etiquette when you're in a healthy relationship, self-care, skincare, and then dig deep into our New Year resolutions and what we have planned to make 2020 our best year yet.

I wanted to put the Girl Boss Spotlight on a woman whose work speaks to me on a level that runs even deeper than business. Lex Dime is a recording artist, activist, and a songwriter who has made a career of bringing positivity to young girls not only through her music but also by founding The Lost Girls Campaign, a platform that inspires and empowers young women to connect, share information and organize across the world.

The latest guest in my Girl Boss Spotlight series is self-proclaimed "serial-entrepreneur" Yolanda Keels-Walker. She's an author, a motivational speaker, a mother, a business coach, and she's successfully grown and sold two (two!!) salon chains, among many other personal and professional achievements. My guest on this episode of Ready Set Slay comes courtesy of a Google search I did on myself several years ago which led me to a lovely woman who happens to share my name! Jenae Harris and I became Facebook friends and have stayed in touch over the years. I thought she would be a perfect guest for my Girl Boss Spotlight series, as Jenae's resume is impressive, to put it mildly! From going to school for Criminal Justice to starting a career in the legal profession to developing her own subscription box service to entering the realm of entertainment publicist, Jenae Harris has her hands in a lot of pots!
